The GentleWay Institute (GWI) uses proven and evidence-based training and education to improve communication and empower staff, employees, teachers, law enforcement with the skills needed to peacefully engage the communities where they serve. The GWI team has over 30 years experience in counseling and conflict management.
Our experience in trauma and social determinants, is used to inform our training practices and are proven methods that work within behavioral health and substance abuse populations.
VERBAL PERSUASION COMMUNICATION
Verbal Persuasion Communication is used during crisis and potentially dangerous, or threatening, situations in an attempt reduce harm and de-escalate unsafe situations. We use Safe Judo Values of respect, self-control, politeness and sincerity in using proven verbal and non-verbal skills. This course is available on site and virtual and includes:

SAFE JUDO AND JUJITSU PHYSICAL PROTECTION TRAINING
The GentleWay Institute’s Safe Judo and Jujitsu Physical Protection Training incorporates the values of Respect, Modesty, Self-control and Courtesy as part of the physical de-escalation program. Our Safe Judo program is designed to utilized the right touch and techniques at the right time and incorporates:
Situational awareness
Physical conflict de-escalation
Functional martial-arts knowledge
Nonviolent self-defense tactics
Standing, on the ground and from behind protection techniques
Offering appropriate levels of physical de-escalation techniques based upon student profession
